Morrissey Construction Company Broke Ground on 100% Green Housing Community in Jerseyville, IL
(09/14/10) – Morrissey Construction Company is pleased to announce that it has broken ground on Lexington Farms; the new neighborhood of 32 single-family homes located in Jerseyville, IL.
Lexington Farms will be a 100% green housing community – one of the first of its kind in the nation. Solar panels, wind turbines and other technology will reduce utility bills to $0, and the homes are expected to be LEED Platinum. The homes will feature central air conditioning, heat, hot water and other appliances that run on electric energy, powered by roof-mounted solar panels on all homes. The streetlights will also be powered by wind and solar.
The 1,425 square foot homes will each have three bedrooms, two full bathrooms and an attached two-car garage. A separate building will house a clubhouse / resource center, community room with kitchenette and bathroom, conference room, computer lab, property manager’s office and storage room. The site will be landscaped with native plants to reduce water usage and will include a state-of-the art playground.
A groundbreaking ceremony held September 14, 2010 was attended by Capstone Development Group, Morrissey Construction Company, State Senator Deanna Demuzio, Jerseyville Mayor Yvonne Hartmann, other city officials, and Illinois Housing Development Authority representative Charlotte Flickinger.

Green technology will truly make a more affordable and more sustainable life for everyone in the community.”
