Morrissey Construction Company Director Achieves LEED Accreditation
(7/20/08) – Morrissey Construction Company announced that its Director of Business Development Tom Deters has earned the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Accredited Professional certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).
Established by the USGBC, LEED is a rating system that encourages the use of sustainable green building and development practices. LEED accredited professionals tend to be engineers, architects and other design professionals who, by passing a national examination, have proven that they understand green building practices and principles and are familiar with LEED requirements, resources and procedures.
The LEED AP designation is a rigorous educational and certification process. As a LEED AP, Deters will be capable of advising construction clients on the requirements pertaining to green buildings and assisting in the evaluation of navigation of the complex LEED certification process. It is also becoming more and more common for LEED APs to be required members of sustainable- project design teams in government and private RFPs, so the designation could further benefit MCC’s design-build service offerings.
