Morrissey Construction Company Breaks Ground on New Housing Project
(10/21/09) – Morrissey Construction Company is pleased to announce that it has broken ground on the Harrison Homes project located in Peoria, IL. The housing development will consist of 28 new units and is scheduled to be complete by June 2010.
Harrison Homes will showcase (12) elderly 1- bedroom units (all of which are fully accessible for disabled persons. The building also includes an elevator), (10) 1-bedroom units, and (6) 2-3 bedroom units. All units will be energy efficient and 16 units will be wheelchair and audio / visual accessible. Also included will be an all purpose conference room with a public computer. The area will have city streets and community green space.
A groundbreaking ceremony held on Wednesday, October 21, 2009 was attended by representatives from Peoria Housing Authority, Farnsworth Group, Inc., Morrissey Construction and other members of the development team.
"We really need to generate some excitement and enthusiasm about the south end of Peoria so that the community and particularly those who live in the Southern Gateway recognize there is a collaborative effort occurring.” Peoria Housing Authority Executive Director Brenda Coates said. “We are working to make sure the neighborhood is revitalized with a new community learning center plus quality, affordable housing and the necessary services required to ensure that a neighborhood survives.”
